Johann Stockinger

Johann Stockinger, born 1954 in Sonntagberg, Lower Austria, studied Cultural and Social Anthropology, Formal Logic, Philosophy of Science and Science Research at the University of Vienna. In the 1990er he was a lecturer at the Institute of Social- and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Vienna for computerbased methods in social anthropology.
Since 1994 he has been engaged in the reappraisal of historical relations between Austria and the Philippines and is the founding president of the Austro-Philippine Society.
Around the turn of the millennium, he worked for a few years in the Austrian Ministry of Science (New Media division).
In his main job (since 2001), he was in charge of Innovation & Research at the Austrian Computer Society (OCG) until his retirement in 2019.

It was taken about ten years after Vannevar Bush wrote about a new sort of thinking machine called Memex and maybe another ten years before Ted Nelson coined the term Hypertext. In my early days I had only a very few toys for playing. Actually all of them can be seen on the photograph. | ||
